READ Matthew 4 COMMENTARY: : 1        Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. (3985 “tempted” [peirazo]  means tried, proved, examined, try to trap, test one maliciously, or enticement to sin.) DEVOTION:  The Godhead is all mentioned at the baptism of Jesus. Here we find the Holy Spirit leading Jesus into the wilderness for the next step in HIS ministry. Before the temptation, Jesus fasts for forty days and forty nights. Moses was one who did it on the mountain with the LORD receiving the Ten Commandments. Remember that fasting and prayer are encouraged when there are major decisions to make in our life.
