READ John 6 COMMENTARY: : 6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. (3985 “prove” [peirazo] means tempt, try, assay, examine, to learn the true nature or character of, to attempt, endeavor, scrutinize, or discipline.) DEVOTION: Jesus chose twelve men to train for the ministry. HE only had three and a half years to train HIS disciples. One of them was going to betray HIM so HE really only would have eleven disciples at the end of the training period.
