PRAYER AND PRAISE

Prayer request policy: If you want the prayer request to be private or just between me and you, please say so in the email. I will pray for those requests. If you don’t mind others praying for the request, then just send the request with no restrictions and I will put it in the devotional for other to pray. We don’t include last names in any of our prayer requests. Thank you.

Please pray for the persons whose last name begins with the letter “J” on your prayer list, which includes your address book, church directory and email list.

Please remember to pray for the Biblical churches and pastors in the STATES OF VIRGINIA and WEST VIRGINIA. (REMEMBER THAT IF YOU KNOW BIBLICAL PASTORS IN THESE STATES TO LET US KNOW THEIR NAMES AND CHURCHES AND WE WILL PRAY FOR THEM).

Prayer Chain@ Elim EFC: Could everyone please pray for our nephew Kevin? (Kevin’s parents are my brother Don and his wife Gina, whom you old-timers may remember as a prior church administrator here at Elim.) Kevin’s in surgery right now to remove a tumor between the lobes of his brain. The operation is somewhat complicated by the presence of important blood vessels that have diverted somewhat from important functions to feed the tumor. They anticipate surgery will take about 7 hours. As a one-year-old child, Kevin had serious brain cancer and it was thought he would not likely survive. After years of radiation, surgeries, and chemo, he was declared cancer-free. But he’s struggled with lots of impacts from those earlier procedures, including a series of “meningial” tumors (in the lining of the brain) that are the result of radiation. Kevin is now 32 and has already had one (a few years ago) removed from near an auditory nerve, and one (last year) removed from near one olfactory nerve. The current surgery is to remove the next most dangerous (and one of the faster growing), and won’t address about three others in other places which are still quite small. I know that many of you know and love Kevin, as we do. He’s quite social and has frequently volunteered at Elim, in addition to formerly attending Elim (a number of years ago). I’ll let you know how he does, probably tomorrow. Thank you!

Prayer Chain @ Elim: Hello Elim! I’ve had many ask for an update, so here’s the current status. Monday, 1/13 I have my lumpectomy. It will be a busy morning beginning at Diagnostic Imaging to have a wire guide placed that will help the surgeon navigate directly to the tumor, then to Tacoma General Nuclear Medicine for injections of a radioactive substance that will identify my sentinel lymph node (1-5 will be removed during surgery). Surgery is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. at TG.

Approximately 4 weeks post-op I will begin radiation and hormone therapy.
I expect the surgery recovery to be relatively easy (I bounced right back from two total knee replacements, so this should be a breeze!), and I plan to be working (from home) by next Wednesday. I’m preparing my mind for the fatigue and skin issues that come with radiation come the end of February.
I cherish all of your prayers during this time, not only for me but for my family. My specific prayer is that the cancer is “only what we know it is now” – that the pathology post-op determines the lymph nodes are not affected and the cancer has not spread out of the small space we know it’s in. Also, that I do NOT end up with lymphedema.

Please pray for Brian Laubacker: He has his surgery done  and he still needs to walk but the nerve block is not allowing him to walk yet. Please pray for this to happen so he can walk!  Thank you
